Google Digitizing 250 Thousand Historical Books

ShoutBloger: In collaboration with the British Library based in Britain, Google digitization project gush thousands of books. No less than 250 thousand book library collection will be digitized and will be available to be accessed for free via Google Books.

Overall, the British Library's collection of books reaches about 1 million pieces. Thus, the number of digitalization reached one quarter. This library is intended to digitize books of importance.

Digitization costs paid for by Google, The book that will be taken to Google Books from 1700 to 1870. Not just books, there are also magazines and pamphlets. A total of 40 million pages are scanned in this project.

The theme also varied and record important events in the history of Britain and Europe. For example about the war Battle of Trafalgar, the Crimean War until the invention of technologies such as railroads or telegraph.

Excerpted from the Inquirer on Tuesday June 21, 2011 the purpose of digitizing books is to facilitate access to the community or among many researchers. Google itself does intend to continue to add collections to Google Books.
