Camera Phones Expected to Pass 1 Billion Units in 2011

ShoutBloger: According to the latest study conducted by Strategy Analytics, sales of camera phones is expected to pass the 1 billion units in 2011.

Segment that will grow the fastest are the 8 megapixel camera phone market upwards. Similarly, as quoted from Cellular News on Friday April 8, 2100.

Sales of camera phones worldwide will grow 21 percent from 918 million units in 2010 to 1 billion units in 2011. Approximately 4.2 billion camera phones have been sold worldwide since 2000. Camera phone is a mobile selling product ever developed, said Neil Shah, an analyst with Strategy Analytics.

Neil Mawson, Director of Strategy Anqalytics added that present the fastest growth of camera phones 8 megapixels and above, which will grow by 240 percent worldwide in 2011.

Smart phones such as Nokia and HTC now also compete to bring the camera sensor with larger pixels for image quality, said Mawson.
